Curlew Hills started its operations on March 1, 1979 with the 30-acre forested Memory Gardens. In 1980, the first Mausoleum complex, the Garden of Fountain was built along with a cemetery office.

Twenty-five years ago the groundwork was laid that would transform over 30 acres of citrus groves into Pinellas County’s most outstanding memorial park. The goal was to provide the most comprehensive memorial care at a beautiful location, and bring peace of mind to thousands of families in Pinellas, Pasco and Western Hillsborough counties. Curlew Hills started its operations on March 1, 1979 with the 30-acre forested Memory Gardens. In 1980, the first Mausoleum complex, the Garden of Fountain was built along with a cemetery office.
Curlew Hills was granted a license to operate a crematory in 1982 and began selling cremation services at that time. The Scatter Garden and the Cremorial Garden complex were built in 1983. Plans for a funeral home across the lake from the cemetery office were initiated in 1987. The funeral home was built in 1988 and transformed Curlew Hills into the first “full-service triple combination facility” and the only independently owned facility of its type in the tri-country area.
In 1990, Curlew Hills was invited to join the “Order of the Golden Rule,” a prestigious organization of funeral homes located throughout the United States. Curlew Hills filed a site plan with Pinellas County in 1992 which assured the completion of future development plans on its property without delays. Thus, 1995 saw the completion of the Garden of Devotion followed by the Garden of Peace in 1996. In 1998 construction began on the Meditation Mausoleum complex which was completed in early 1999. Plans are currently in place to begin construction of Private Family Estates and Mausoleums in 2003.
