The firms focus was then, and remains, in the areas of probate, estate planning, real estate and business. In the early-1980's the firm added a young tax attorney John Meissner and a former Certified Public Accountant, Irving Joseph. The name was officially changed to Johnson, Fort, Meissner and Joseph in 1985. The firm continued to flourish, even with the deaths of Mr. Fort and Mr. Johnson in 1999. Also in 1999 the firm added John Palley as an associate attorney. In 2004 the firm added Sasha Oberle as an associate and in 2005 added Amy Ruggles to the list of attorneys. In 2005 the firm admitted John Palley as a shareholder and changed the firm name to Johnson, Fort, Meissner, Joseph & Palley.

Mr. Meissner was admitted to the bar in 1977, California and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California; 1978, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; 1982, U.S. Tax Court. Attorney Profile - John B. Palley
Mr. Palley was admitted to the bar in 1994. Before that he graduated from Sonoma State University with a BA in International Business in 1991. He then went to the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor in 1994. After working for a high end life insurance company as a marketing consultant, Mr. Palley ran his own law practice for four years before joining the firm in 1999. Mr. Palley is an adjunct professor for the University of California Davis Extension teaching an estate planning course in their Certified Financial Planning program. Mr. Palley's past list of community involvement is long and includes: the Active 20-30 Club #1, River City Speakers Toastmaster's, The Sacramento Jewish Federation and is a past member of the state-wide California State University Alumni Council. Mr. Palley is a member of the California Bar and the Sacramento Estate Planning Council. Mr. Palley lives with his wife Kathleen and their two young children.

Sasha Oberle-Collins graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Accounting and Finance and a MS in Accounting in 1996 and her Juris Doctorate in 2000. Sasha brings experience as a certified public accountant with a Big 4 accounting firm, and she is admitted to practice law in Florida, Idaho and California. Sasha is currently active in several Sacramento community organizations including the Junior League of Sacramento, the Sacramento Estate Planning Council and the Sacramento County Bar Association.

Ms. Ruggles, a graduate from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, with a BA in Business Administration in 1986, attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, receiving her Juris Doctor in 1996. She spent the first four years of her career defending public entities in employment disputes based on claims of harassment, discrimination and retaliation. Ms. Ruggles now brings her expertise to the firm in the areas of estate planning, trust and probate administration, and business law. She is an instructor with the U.C. Davis Extension program and currently teaches business law.

Jennifer Rouse is an associate attorney with the firm. Jennifer practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and administration, probate, conservatorship, guardianships and general business law. She holds a B.S. Degree in History and Government from Pacific Union College. Jennifer received her Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law. Jennifer is a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Sections of the California and Sacramento County Bar Associations.
